Knowing AC Parts and How Air Conditioning Works

The Compressor
The
compressor plays a significant role in the overall cooling system. It is a
complex mechanism inside the air conditioner as its function is taking the heat
in the air and throwing it outside, allowing the cooled air to circulate inside
your room.
The Condenser
The
condenser is another super important aircon part that extracts heat from the
unit's interior and transfers it outside. It is made of hollow coils that make
the refrigerant gas travel to the condenser and enter the coil as a part of the
cooling process. The condenser coil is located in the outer half of an AC
attached to a fan in a split system HVAC. The fan cools down the gas and
removes heat from the refrigerant by absorbing it and converting it into a
liquid state.
The Evaporator
The
last step of the cooling process is played by the evaporator. The refrigerant
liquid that leaves the condenser coil through tiny pipes travels to the
evaporator. Pressure decreases in the evaporating coil to convert the liquid
back into a cooled gas. In short, the evaporating coil absorbs the heat from
the inside of your home and sends it to the condenser for the cooling process
to take place again.
Fan and Air
Handling Unit
The
blowing unit and the air handler are responsible for equal cold air
distribution throughout the room. They work in a cycle to pull in the warm air
into the air conditioning unit and pass out the cool air back into the room.
The outdoor fan releases hot air through the condensing coil, while the indoor
fan expels cool air into your home.
Filters
Each
air conditioning unit comes with a filter. The filters are found in the indoor
half of the AC. It performs the critical role of keeping the dust and dirt of
the air from getting into the AC's central unit. The AC filters, therefore, are
vital components of an air conditioning system.
Thermostat
A
thermostat helps you to adjust the air conditioning unit to the correct
temperature. The AC must be at the right temperature inside for your air
conditioning parts to function correctly. Is your AC not cooling down your
house? It's most probably due to a damaged thermostat. Therefore, a thermostat
is very important to control the temperature of the AC.
Drain Pipes
The
primary function of the drain pipes is to carry the water droplets out of the
AC produced when the hot air turns into cool air. If you do not want the water
to leak from your Air conditioning unit, make sure that the drain pipes aren't
malfunctioning or clogged.
